The journey of Heritage Build began with founders Daniel and Ross, who cultivated their skills through building apprenticeships in rural Wales. While restoring ancient buildings, churches, and listed properties, they developed a deep appreciation for historical architecture. Their passion for preservation inspired them to pursue specialized heritage building courses, earning diplomas in heritage carpentry and heritage plastering.

Throughout this period, they mastered the meticulous techniques essential for conserving and restoring unique architectural elements. This solid foundation fuels our commitment to honoring the past while crafting a sustainable future.

Each historic project requires a customized approach, beginning with a thorough understanding of the methods and materials used, and wherever possible, preserving the skills of bygone eras.

After years of experience in New Zealand's modern building industry, they felt their expertise was underutilized. With a growing appreciation for older structures, they believe a resurgence in the use of traditional building materials is on the horizon, as awareness of sustainability continues to rise.

With Daniel's expertise in carpentry and Ross's knowledge of lime mortar, they cover all aspects of heritage construction from the ground up. Coupled with their modern building expertise, they form one of New Zealand's most capable teams in heritage construction.

In addition to their hands-on skills, Daniel and Ross are passionate advocates for community engagement in heritage conservation. They believe that educating the public about the importance of preserving historical buildings fosters a deeper connection to local culture and history. By organizing workshops and collaborating with schools, they aim to inspire the next generation of builders and architects to value and protect their architectural heritage, ensuring that these treasures endure for years to come.
